He was thought to be the wisest man in Greece at the time of his execution. Socrates would be considered the epitome of Platonic man; he had achieved the highest levels of wisdom and goodness, the absolutes of beauty. But how did this man achieve these degrees of understanding and insightfulness? He simply lived his life following the motto he set for himself, Become what you are. There is the knowledge and beauty there for the taking, it is up to us to find our path. The term â€Å"animism† is defined as the belief of a life-force existing within non-human forms. In other words, according the this idea, non-human forms such as thunder, rocks and trees are possessed by spirits and souls. The term, first developed as â€Å"animismus† by chemist/physicist Georg Ernst Stahl in 1832, defined as the â€Å"doctrine that animal life is produced by an immaterial soul†, was reintroduced in 1871 by English anthropologist Sir Edward Burnett Taylor to be defined as the â€Å"theory of the universal animation of nature†. It is believed in some systems that the soul must journey to pass through to an easier world. In other systems, it is said that the soul would remain on earth as a ghost. If murdered, the spirit would either assist in discovering the identity of its murderer or wreak vengeance for itself. A widespread belief of those who die a violent death is that the soul would become a dangerous spirit and endanger the lives of those who approach the haunted area of the its death. In literature, animism is most often used in mythology and folklore. The myths and folklore generally contain a magical or spiritual sense to the story. An example would be of the tale of the Pontianak. The Pontianak is a type of vampire in Malay folklore and Indonesian mythology. It is said that a woman who has died during childbirth becomes undead, seeking revenge and terrorizes villages. The use of animism is applied because the Pontianak is not human and has a spirit within. Many Urarina myths apply animism into their myths by portraying plants, inanimate objects, and animals as personal beings. An example would be of a Urarina deluge-myth, a myth of a great flood sent by a deity to destroy civilization as a punishment. It is said that a man had saved himself from the flood by climbing a tree. The man’s wife had transformed into a termites’ nest and was clinging onto the tree and their two sons had transformed into birds. Although the operation is too dangerous and don’t have enough air to breath, miners still have enough air to survive by remove all natural gas and let the air come down through the shaft. On the top of the surface there are two elevator operations which they use it for transport the miners and facility up and down between the surface and underneath the earth. Along the impact, one more serious problem was included â€Å"Environment Pollution†. Before the operation started, the company engineer need to log all the forest nearby the mine base. They will cut down many trees as they can, to clear out the area in order to start building their mining operation. This depletion will decreasing the rainfall in the forest and will destroy animals’ shelter and erosion of soil that will make the soil lose nutrients. The operation will be in grave danger if their engineers didn’t use some of barriers to barricade hole! If the rain comes down at the operation area, the soil will follow the rainfall and goes into the hole. When the soil dried, it will block the way out and the miners will have no air to breath and they will all dead! Furthermore, behind the mining it leaves a huge ugly hole which damages the natural beauty. All in all, shaft mining cost more than any other method of mining, it is also help to gain the government profit, but shaft mining is complicated and extremely dangerous. It’s a life threatened job which could kill the miners unrespectable.
